Anodized coating grows as previously shown in diagrams. During periods of growth, there may be a case that coating blocks each other at points on adjacent area, or coating does not grow at points on sharp angle or radius curve.
2. Crack on surface
Streak crack may be seen on surface after anodizing as thermal expansibility differs from anodized coating to aluminum alloy. However, anodized coating itself gains superiority in heat resistance and can be used even for coating of piston engine.
3. Colors on surface
Anodizing process results specific natural color on surface, depends on alloy constituent. Furthermore, different colors and sign of granularity may be generated due to various factors, e.g. the first anodizing, re-anodizing, subtle difference of heat treatments, alloy constituent and production lots etc.
